Minabe Plum Syrup Making
みなべ町, Wakayama
Experience making plum syrup using fully ripe Nanko Ume plums in Minabe, the production area of Kishu Nanko Ume
Minabe Town is the birthplace of Nanko Ume and Japan's top plum-producing area. During the plum harvest season in June, you can experience harvesting fully ripened Nanko Ume plums at the farm and creating plum syrup by combining them with rock sugar. The large and thick-fleshed Nanko Ume has an exceptional fragrance. You can take home the prepared plum syrup as is, and it will be ready to drink in about two weeks. Workshops for making plum jam and pickled plums are also held.
