Walk along an 800-year-old cedar tree-lined path and moss-covered cobblestones, the most beautiful section of Kumano Kodo: Daimon-zaka
Daimon-zaka is known as the most beautiful cobblestone path in Kumano Kodo, with towering cedar trees over 800 years old standing in rows along the approximately 600-meter pilgrimage route. Climbing the moss-covered stone steps step by step is a true pilgrimage experience walking a sacred path. After about a 30-minute climb, you arrive at Nachi Shrine and Nachi Falls, where the extraordinary experience of viewing up close Japan's highest straight waterfall with a 133-meter drop awaits. Heian-period costume rentals are available at the entrance, allowing you to enjoy a photo-worthy stroll.
