Kishu Lacquerware Handmade Experience in Kainan
Original Kishu lacquerware making experience using maki-e technique in Kainan City, the birthplace of Kishu lacquerware
The Kuroe district of Kainan City has a 400-year history as the birthplace of Kishu lacquerware. Local lacquerware workshops offer experience programs where you can apply original designs to bowls and chopsticks using the maki-e technique. The work of drawing flower and animal motifs using gold and silver powder will captivate both children and adults. Finished pieces are sent to your home after drying. Strolling through the streets of Kuroe and visiting lacquerware gallery shops is another enjoyable aspect.
