高岡市, Toyama
In Takaoka, a 400-year casting town, melt tin to craft your own original guinomi sake cup
Takaoka is a casting town founded by Maeda Toshinaga, the second daimyo of the Kaga Domain. In the tin casting experience, you carve your favorite patterns into sand molds and pour melted tin to create your own guinomi cups or ochoko. The piece is completed in about an hour and you can enjoy the process safely under the guidance of a casting artisan. Combined with a museum where you can learn the history of Takaoka copperware, you can experience the 400-year tradition of craftsmanship.
