The area along the old Tokaido from Kita-Shinagawa to Aomono Yokocho retains the character of Shinagawa post station. Every September, the Shinagawa Post Station Festival features oiran processions that recreate the vibrancy of Edo-era post station towns. You can enjoy a scenic 2km historical walking course that tours ancient shrines such as Ebara Shrine and Shinagawa Shrine, while sampling traditional prepared foods from the shopping street.
