Azalea Festival at Nezu Shrine
Spring spectacular of approximately 100 varieties and 3,000 azalea plants blooming brilliantly in the Azalea Garden at Nezu Shrine in Bunkyo Ward
Nezu Shrine is an ancient shrine with over 1,900 years of history, and the shrine buildings constructed by Tokugawa Tsunashige are designated as National Important Cultural Properties. From mid-April to early May, approximately 100 varieties and 3,000 azalea plants bloom magnificently in the Azalea Garden, painting the hillside with gradations of red, white, and pink. The view of appreciating azaleas while walking under the thousand torii gates is one of Tokyo's finest spring scenes. It is also an ideal starting point for exploring Yanesen.
