Mukōjima Hyakkaen is an Edo-era garden that opened in 1804 and is designated as a nationally designated scenic spot and historic site. Approximately 230 species of plants centered on wild flowers mentioned in the Man'yōshū bloom throughout the seasons. The bush clover tunnel in September is a magnificent sight with bush clover about 2 meters high overhead. The temple of Fukurokuju, one of the Seven Lucky Gods on the Sumida River pilgrimage, is also enshrined here, and it is an elegant garden beloved by the literati and scholars of the downtown area.
