Azabu-Juban Naniwa-ya Sohonten
Known as the original taiyaki maker, this historic shop was founded in the Meiji era. An exceptional piece with a thin, crispy skin packed full of red bean paste.
Established in Meiji 42 (1909), this famous taiyaki shop is said to be the inspiration for the anime 'Swim! Taiyaki Kun'. Using a traditional method called 'ichoo-yaki' where each taiyaki is baked individually, the thin and crispy exterior is filled abundantly with homemade chunky red bean paste made from Hokkaido azuki beans. It's characteristically packed with filling from head to tail. Delicious fresh from the pan and equally delightful when cooled. Shaved ice is also popular during summer, and the version topped with red bean paste is exquisite. Perfect to enjoy while strolling through the Azabu-Juban shopping street.
