Iya Kazura Bridge Autumn Leaves
The Kazura Bridge in hidden Iya is most beautiful during autumn foliage season. You can enjoy both the thrill of crossing the vine-woven bridge and the stunning gorge scenery simultaneously.
The Iya Kazura Bridge is a primitive suspension bridge woven with Shirakuchi vine and is designated as an Important Tangible Cultural Properties of Japan. At the base of the 45m-long, 14m-high bridge, you can see the pristine Iya River flowing below, and the thrill of crossing is exceptional. Especially during autumn foliage season, the surrounding mountains turn shades of red and yellow, creating a breathtaking contrast with the gorge and suspension bridge. The Inner Iya Double Kazura Bridge is also available for an even more remote experience. You can enjoy it alongside local attractions like Iya soba and Iya hot springs.
