Firing Experience at Masiko's Climbing Kiln

Masiko Town is a pottery village representative of the Kanto region. Several times a year, firing takes place in climbing kilns where you can witness the traditional kiln firing process with firewood continuously fed for three days and three nights. At kiln opening, you encounter the unpredictable expressions of vessels transformed in the flames, and can experience the entire ceramic art process from pot making to firing. The pottery markets held in spring and autumn are also impressive in scale and worth seeing.
