The Great Buddha of Kamakura is a bronze seated statue of Amitabha Buddha enshrined at Kotoku-in and is designated as a National Treasure. The statue is approximately 11.3 meters tall, and approximately 13.4 meters including the pedestal. Originally enshrined in the Great Buddha Hall, it was swept away by a tsunami in 1498 and has remained open to the elements since then. It is also possible to enter its interior.
