The Great Buddha Hall of Todai-ji Temple is the world's largest-class wooden architecture, housing the Rushana Buddha (the Great Buddha of Nara) approximately 15 meters tall. Since the opening eye ceremony was held in 752 during the Nara period, it has been revered as a symbol of Japanese Buddhist culture. It is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
