Japan's largest gold and silver mine that flourished during the Edo period
Sado Gold Mine has been Japan's largest gold and silver mine, with mining conducted for approximately 400 years since its discovery in 1601. Inside the tunnels, figurines depicting mining activities of that era are displayed, and grand ruins such as "Doyugawarito" can also be visited. It was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2024.
