Shuri Castle is a royal palace of the Ryukyu Kingdom founded in the late 14th century, a unique castle structure that fuses Chinese and Japanese architectural styles. The main hall was destroyed by fire in 2019, but restoration work is underway, and the process is being made public as 'visible reconstruction'. It is a component asset of the World Cultural Heritage.
