Kakegawa Castle is called the 'famous castle of the Tokaido region,' and this beautiful castle was restored in 1994 as Japan's first full-scale wooden main keep. The view from the keep is magnificent, offering a panoramic vista of the Kakegawa city center and the mountain ranges of the Enshu region. The Ninomaru Palace is one of the few existing castle palaces and is designated as a National Important Cultural Property. The adjoining Ninomaru Museum features modern Japanese paintings and craft items. You can also enjoy strolling through the castle town streetscape.
