Tsugaru Strait Panorama from Shiriuchi Lighthouse

From the white limestone lighthouse standing on the coast of Shiriuchi Town, you can see across the Tsugaru Strait to the Shimokita Peninsula in Aomori Prefecture on the opposite shore. On clear days, the mountain ranges of Honshu come into sharp focus, letting you feel the closeness between Hokkaido and Honshu. The area around the lighthouse has well-maintained walking paths where you can enjoy strolls while watching ferries and fishing boats crossing the strait. The entrance to the Hokkaido Shinkansen undersea tunnel is also nearby.
