Iwami Kagura is a traditional performing art passed down in western Shimane Prefecture, characterized by gorgeous costumes and impressive masks. In a workshop within Hamada City, you can make miniature kagura masks using traditional techniques with Japanese paper and glue. This is an authentic experience where you select mask designs that appear in popular performances such as Orochi (the Great Serpent) and Shouki, and complete the work with coloring.
