Shikaoishi Town's Tokachi Nature Center conducts nature experience programs to explore the virgin forests around Shikaribetsu Lake and the Daisetsuzan East Nupukaushinupuri area with specialist guides. Trekking while listening to pika calls and receiving commentary on alpine plants offers a series of discoveries you wouldn't notice on your own. In winter, there is also a special experience of walking across the frozen Shikaribetsu Lake in snowshoes and bathing in an open-air bath on the ice.
