Early Morning Stroll at Enryaku-ji Temple on Mount Hiei
Experience early morning at the World Heritage Enryaku-ji Temple on Mount Hiei, participating in morning prayers and touching the sacred mountain's pure essence
Enryaku-ji Temple on Mount Hiei is the head temple of Tendai Buddhism, a World Heritage site with over 1,200 years of history. In the morning prayer participation program, you can chant sutras together with monks in Konpon Chuodo Hall and witness up close the 'Eternal Dharma Lamp' that has burned continuously for 1,200 years. The grounds in the early morning have fewer tourists, offering a special time to quietly stroll through the mist-shrouded cedar-lined paths and moss gardens. The morning haze views from the observation platform overlooking Lake Biwa are also spectacular.
