Apoi-dake in Samani-cho is a globally rare mountain where peridotite, which normally exists tens of kilometers underground, is exposed on the surface. At this mountain, designated as a UNESCO World Geopark, you can observe rocks from Earth's deep interior up close, and many endemic alpine plants thrive here. If you study at the Geopark Visitor Center before climbing, each rock beneath your feet will speak to you of Earth's story.
