Children's Satoyama Exploration at Tokorozawa's Totoro Forest

'Totoro Forest' in the Sayama Plateau of Tokorozawa City is a mixed deciduous forest said to be the model for a movie's setting. In this forest, which has been preserved through the National Trust movement, children can freely run around and observe Japanese beetles, stag beetles, and wild birds. Volunteer-led nature observation sessions are also held regularly, where visitors can enjoy seasonal activities such as playing in fallen leaf pools and collecting nuts and seeds.
