Nagatoro Iwatatatami Autumn Foliage Line Boating
The autumn Nagatoro line boating through the Arakawa Gorge, colored with fall foliage, offers spectacular views
Nagatoro line boating is popular in spring and summer, but the autumn foliage season is exceptional. Drift leisurely for about 20 minutes aboard a traditional boat operated by a boatman, passing through a tunnel of autumn leaves that dye both banks of the Arakawa in red and yellow. The view of the nationally designated scenic spot Iwatatatami seen from the water carries a different impact than from land, and there's also the thrill of crossing the rapids. After disembarking, it's the standard course to stroll through Iwatatatami and finish with Nagatoro specialties like shaved ice and pork miso bowl.
