Every year from January to March, humpback whales come to the waters of the Kerama Islands to give birth and raise their young. In Zamami Village, whale-watching boats depart, allowing visitors to observe spectacular breaching (surface jumps) and tail slaps of whales up close. With an encounter rate exceeding 90%, this thrilling natural experience is a unique attraction of Okinawa in winter.
