Bizen-yaki Pottery Studio Pottery Wheel Experience
Experience the pottery wheel with Bizen-yaki, one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns. The rustic finish without glaze creates a truly one-of-a-kind piece.
Bizen City is the birthplace of Bizen-yaki, one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns, and a pottery town with over 1,000 years of history. At the Bizen-yaki Pottery Museum, you can experience the pottery wheel and create your own unique tableware using Bizen's high-quality clay. The appeal of Bizen-yaki lies in the natural pattern creation called 'kiln transformation,' achieved without using glaze as the clay changes in the kiln. Firing takes about two weeks, and your finished pieces will be delivered to you later. The Ibe townscape is dotted with kilns and galleries, making it a pleasant area for strolling.
