Obihiro Pork Bowl
A local specialty from Obihiro - pork bowl. Thick slices of pork grilled with a sweet and spicy sauce are exceptional.
Obihiro pork bowl is said to have been born in 1933 at a restaurant called 'Pancho' in Obihiro and is a representative dish of Tokachi. Thick slices of pork loin are grilled over charcoal until fragrant, then generously coated with a soy-based sweet and spicy sauce and served over rice. Inspired by eel kabayaki, the aroma of charcoal and the sweetness of the sauce stimulate the appetite. There are over 50 pork bowl specialty restaurants in Obihiro, each with its own unique sauce composition and grilling method. Please enjoy the authentic taste made with high-quality pork raised on Tokachi's soil.
