Hydrangea Hike at Hinode-san and Tsurutsusu Onsen
日の出町, Tokyo
Climb Hinode-san in Nishi-Tama surrounded by a sea of hydrangeas, then soak away the sweat at Tsurutsusu Onsen
Hinode-san is a 902-meter mountain perfect for beginner mountaineers, with a popular ridge-walking course from Mitake-san. From late June through July, hydrangeas bloom magnificently along the trail, and the summit offers sweeping views of the Kanto Plain. After descending, the classic way to finish is washing off the sweat at Tsurutsusu Onsen at the mountain's base—a popular day-trip hot spring renowned for its alkaline waters that leave your skin silky smooth.
