Tea Picking Experience in Ikoma and Chayama
生駒市, Nara
Experience new tea picking and traditional hand-rolled tea production in the tea gardens at the foot of Ikoma Mountain
The foothills of Ikoma City are dotted with small-scale yet high-quality tea gardens. During the new tea season in May, you can experience tea picking and learn the traditional process of hand-rolling the picked leaves into tea. The tea you finish yourself can be taken home. You can also enjoy tea brewed by the tea farmer's grandmother along with seasonal sweets at teatime. The appeal is its easy access—just 30 minutes by train from Osaka.
