Gunkanjima Landing Cruise
Land on the World Heritage site Gunkanjima (Hashima) and experience the grandeur of the offshore coal mining city now transformed into ruins
Gunkanjima (Hashima) is a World Cultural Heritage site floating approximately 19km from Nagasaki Harbor. Once a town of undersea coal mining where over 5,000 people lived, the island became uninhabited after its closure in 1974, and decaying concrete apartment complexes still remain today. On the landing cruise, you can walk along the island's promenades with guide commentary and experience the history of coal mining that supported Japan's modernization and the aesthetics of the ruins.
