Shima City is Japan's foremost ama diver town, home to approximately 500 active ama divers. During the ama cottage experience, ama divers dressed in white diving attire grill freshly caught turban shells, abalone, and spiny lobster over an irori's charcoal fire right before your eyes. Enjoying a meal while listening to stories about freediving fishing and episodes from life at sea is truly exceptional. This is an experience unique to Ise-Shima where you can experience ama culture while taking in the spectacular views of Ago Bay.
