Makubetsu Naumann Park and Fossil Experience

The Chuui District of Makubetsu Town is where an almost complete fossil skeleton of a Naumann elephant was excavated. The Naumann Elephant Museum displays life-size restoration models and excavated fossils, sparking children's curiosity. During summer, there are fossil replica excavation experience programs that families can enjoy together. The adjacent Naumann Park also features playground equipment and a campground, making it a spot where you can play all day long. It is a valuable facility where you can learn about the history of the Tokachi land.
