Saga Torii-Moto is an Important Traditional Buildings Group Preservation District located deep in Arashiyama, where thatch-roofed folk houses line the path from Adashino Nenbutsu-ji Temple to the first torii gate of Atago Shrine. In contrast to the bustling central area of Arashiyama crowded with tourists, this area features a quiet atmosphere with beautiful traditional townscapes reminiscent of Japan's primordial landscape.
