Moss Garden of Sanzen-in at Ohara

Sanzen-in is a Tendai Buddhist temple nestled in the mountain village of Ohara, Kyoto. Yūseien, the garden within its grounds, is a beautiful sanctuary entirely blanketed with moss. Beneath towering cedar trees, a velvety carpet of verdant green spreads as far as the eye can see—a breathtakingly beautiful sight. Perched lovingly among the moss are the charming 'warabe jizō' (child statues), beloved photo spots for visitors.
