Nishijin Hand Loom Weaving Experience
Kyoto, Kyoto
Weave an original table center using traditional Kyoto craft Nishijin hand looms
Nishijin weaving is a traditional Kyoto silk textile with over 1500 years of history. In workshops in the Nishijin area, you can experience weaving small Nishijin woven items using an actual hand loom (tebata). Craftspeople carefully guide you from thread selection through weaving techniques, and in about 90 minutes you can complete a table center or coaster. These gorgeous woven pieces using gold and silver threads make special keepsakes from your Kyoto trip.
