Kifune Shrine Autumn Illumination
Kyoto, Kyoto
The stone lantern stairs of Kifune Shrine, surrounded by autumn foliage, appear mysteriously in the illumination
Kifune Shrine is the water deity enshrined in Kifune, Kyoto's inner sanctuary. During the autumn foliage season, the vermillion lanterns along the approach and the autumn leaves are illuminated, creating a fantastical landscape. The contrast between the soft glow of the lanterns lining both sides of the stone steps and the autumn leaves is breathtakingly beautiful. During the maple lantern period, you can also enjoy the "Maple Tunnel," where the interior lights of the Eizan Railway are turned off.
