Harmonica Yokocho
武蔵野市吉祥寺, Tokyo
A Showa-era retro izakaya alley in front of Kichijoji Station. Enjoy local flavors and atmosphere in a narrow alley packed with small shops.
A post-war alley located right next to Kichijoji Station's north exit. Small shops line up like the mouthpiece of a harmonica, which is how it got its name. About 100 establishments with diverse cuisines—grilled chicken, oden, standing-bar izakayas, curry, Thai food, and more—are jam-packed here. Many shops serve lunch during the day, and at night the glow of red lanterns beckons you for a drink. Simply walking through the narrow alleyways is thrilling—a signature gourmet spot of Kichijoji.
