Morning Auction Viewing at Furubira Fishing Port
A valuable fishing experience where you can observe the early morning auction up close at a small fishing port on the Shakotan Peninsula
Furubira Fishing Port is a small-scale fishing port located on the eastern side of the Shakotan Peninsula. At the auction that starts after 5 AM every morning, you can experience the excitement of watching octopus, atka mackerel, flounder, and other treasures from the Japan Sea being sold one after another. There are also opportunities to interact with local fishermen, and you can feel the local food culture firsthand. After your visit, it's recommended to savor fresh seafood at a dining hall near the port. Prior notification to the fishing cooperative is required.
