Kotohira-gu Shrine Approach Souvenir Street
Shop at souvenir stores lining the approach of Kotohira-gu Shrine. Featured items include Kyūman and Wasanbon and other renowned Sanuki confectionery.
Along the 785-step stone stairway approach of Kotohira-gu Shrine, traditional souvenir shops line the path. The shrine's famous Kyūman—a baked bun shaped like a moxibustion treatment—is a beloved specialty treasured by visitors for generations. Souvenir offerings unique to Konpira include dry confectionery made with Sanuki Wasanbon sugar, Sanuki udon gift sets, and Kotohira-gu Shrine talismans. Shopping while climbing the stone steps provides pleasant exercise, and breaks at tea shops along the way to enjoy udon or ice cream are a highlight of the experience.
