Iwatanidō Tansu from Esashi, Oshu is a traditional craft characterized by Nanbu ironware fittings and lacquer coating. In the craftsman's workshop, you can experience the metalwork striking technique firsthand. The process of striking copper sheets with a chisel to create arabesque patterns requires more focus and skill than it appears. The finished small metal fitting plate becomes a souvenir. A precious experience to touch the craftsman's technique that has continued for centuries.
