Famous tekone-zushi and akafuku mochi to enjoy after visiting Ise Jingu
At Oharai-machi and Okage Yokocho near Ise Jingu, you can savor Ise's famous local cuisine. Tekone-zushi is a regional dish of fresh bonito marinated in soy-based sauce served over vinegared rice. Akafuku mochi from the 300-year-old Akafuku shop is a classic Ise souvenir of mochi wrapped in smooth sweet red bean paste. Don't forget to try Ise udon as well.
