Tamba Anagama Kiln Pottery Experience
丹波篠山市, Hyogo
Create hand-formed pottery in anagama kiln firing at a Tamba ware studio, one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns
Tamba ware is one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns with a history of approximately 850 years. About 50 kiln studios gather in the Tachuika district of Tamba Sasayama City, and at the experience workshop you can enjoy making hand-formed vessels using Tamba's red clay. When fired in an anagama kiln, natural glaze forms, creating unique vessels with distinctive character. After completing your pottery, you can stroll through the pottery village and view and purchase distinctive Tamba ware at each kiln studio's gallery.
