Takeda Castle Ruins: Sky Castle and Sea of Clouds
Takeda Castle Ruins floating in the sea of clouds: Japan's Machu Picchu and its fantastical spectacular scenery
Takeda Castle Ruins are the remains of a mountaintop castle built at an elevation of 353.7m. When enveloped in the sea of clouds that occurs in the early morning from autumn through winter, it displays a fantastical appearance as a 'Sky Castle.' The sight of stone walls floating above the sea of clouds is also called 'Japan's Machu Picchu,' and photography enthusiasts from across the country visit. The view from the facing Tatsumokyo Gorge is particularly spectacular, and it is recommended to wait from before sunrise.
