Shosha Engyoji is an ancient Tendai sect temple located on Mount Shosha in the outskirts of Himeji, known as the 'Western Hiezan,' a magnificent alpine temple. When you ascend the mountain by ropeway, Important Cultural Property structures such as the Mani Hall, the Great Lecture Hall, and the Refectory are scattered throughout the deep forest. Also known as a filming location for the film 'The Last Samurai,' walking through the serene temple grounds allows you to feel refreshed, having left the secular world behind.
