The former Naval Academy located in Etajima (currently the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force First Technical School) is notable for its beautiful red brick buildings constructed during the Meiji period. On the free guided tour, you can learn about the history of war and the importance of peace through letters and belongings of kamikaze pilots displayed in the Educational Reference Hall. The contrast between the beautiful British-style architecture and the calm landscape of the Seto Inland Sea is striking.
