Hachinohe Senbei Jiru
A renowned shop for Hachinohe's local cuisine, senbei jiru. A simple and warming dish where Nanbu senbei crackers are boiled in a pot.
Hachinohe city's local dish 'senbei jiru' is a unique hot pot where chicken or pork broth with vegetables and mushrooms is simmered, and Nanbu senbei crackers specifically made for hot pots are broken into it. It gained national recognition through the B-1 Grand Prix. Even when simmered, the senbei retains a mochi-like texture, absorbs plenty of broth, and the umami flavor becomes concentrated. Throughout Hachinohe city, from specialty shops to izakayas, many establishments serve senbei jiru, and it's especially comforting to eat in cold winters. You can also enjoy it casually at Hachinohe Miroku Yokocho.
