Nishi-no-Kawarahara Park Open-Air Bath at Kusatsu Onsen

Nishi-no-Kawarahara Park lies beyond the hot spring town stretching from Kusatsu Onsen's Yubatake, featuring a unique landscape where hot springs emerge from the riverbed at every turn. Located at the far end of the park, the Nishi-no-Kawarahara outdoor bath is one of Japan's largest, covering over 500 square meters. Bathing surrounded by nature's seasonal transformations is spectacular—snowy baths in winter, autumn foliage views, and summer's verdant canopy. Along the park's walking paths, you can also test the spring water temperature by dipping your hands into the natural hot springs bubbling from the riverbed.
