Strolling Through Nakatsugawa's Nakasendo Post Towns
A stone-paved historic road walking course from Magome-juku to Ochiai-juku along the Nakasendo
Nakatsugawa City is an area where successive Nakasendo post towns line up. The stone-paved slope of Magome-juku is known as the literary hometown of Shimizaki Toson. Along the approximately 8km historic Nakasendo walking course from Magome-juku to Ochiai-juku, you trace the path of history while enjoying the scenery of Kiso Road mountains and settlements. The stone pavement at Ochiai along the way remains as it was in the Edo period and is designated as a National Historic Site. The autumn foliage season is particularly beautiful, bustling with many hikers.
