Mino District with Rising Udatsu

The 'district with rising udatsu' in the center of Mino City is a Nationally Important Traditional Building Preservation District. Udatsu are firewalls set on roofs, which were symbols of wealthy merchant houses. Along the street are specialty shops selling Mino washi, cafés using washi, and sake breweries of local sake, with plenty to see. At the 'Mino Washi Akari Art Exhibition' held every October, the entire district is fantastically illuminated with washi lanterns, making it a must-see event.
