Mino Indigo Dyeing Experience
Indigo dyeing workshop for Mino washi in the historic townscape of traditional merchant houses
Mino City is known for its townscape of traditional udatsu merchant houses and is a center of washi paper production. In the indigo dyeing experience, you dye Mino washi and handkerchiefs with natural indigo. Create patterns using rubber bands and board clamping techniques, and when you dip them in the indigo vat, the moment when the deep indigo gradient appears is truly moving. The work is completed in about 60 minutes, and after drying, you can take it home as is. Many participants also choose to combine this with a hands-on washi paper making experience.
