Experience Japanese calligraphy at the foot of Dazaifu Tenmangu, the shrine dedicated to the God of Learning
You can experience authentic calligraphy in the town before the gate of Dazaifu Tenmangu, which is dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the God of Learning. Starting with the basic calligraphy brush techniques, you can write your favorite kanji or words on Japanese paper to take home as souvenirs. Combined with a visit to the Tenmangu shrine, it's a special experience to touch Japanese culture and is a very popular program with foreign tourists.
