Echizen Coast's Peculiar Rocks and Daffodil Colony
越前町, Fukui
Peculiar rock formations of Echizen Coast carved by the rough waves of the Sea of Japan and winter daffodil fields
Echizen Coast is a dramatic coastline featuring successive strange rocks and cliffs carved by the rough waves of the Sea of Japan. Naturally-formed artistic landscapes such as Kotoori Gate and Hoko Island are scattered throughout, making it popular as a driving course. In winter, approximately 15 million daffodils bloom splendidly on slopes along the coast, earning it recognition as one of Japan's three major daffodil colonies. The contrast between the delicate daffodils swaying in the sea breeze and the rugged sea is striking.
